Jeff Tindall Named Coach of U19 Team

U16 and U14 Coaches Also Named

Jeff Tindall has been named as head coach of the Steel City Selects U19 team.  Jeff brings years of coaching experience to SCS, as well as an impressive network of hockey connections at D-I and D-3 colleges.  Most recently he was Head Coach of the Pens Elite Girls U19 AAA team and worked with multiple college scouts and coaches to help players with future college placements.  

Jeff's background includes:

  • USA Hockey Level 4 Coach, most recently coached Pen Elite U19 AAA Girls to District Championship
  • Eight-year coach within the Arctic Foxes organization at the A-Major and AA levels
  • USA Hockey Level 3 Ref where he officiated multiple Penguin Cup Finals and State Championships, as well as local ACHA D1 and D3 college hockey
  • Played professional roller hockey locally for seven years
  • Coached Seneca Valley's first high school roller hockey team to an undefeated season, including the local high school league championship

Jeff describes his coaching philosophy as "I believe in educating players first and foremost, and allowing the players to be offensively creative.  Developing players and increasing their Hockey IQ is what I enjoy the most. I also believe in sharing the love of the game with my players. We will put in the necessary work, have fun and enjoy the game!"

In other coaching news, John Mudrany has been named the head coach of the U16 team, replacing the previously named coach, Bill Wilbert, whose daughter is moving on to the Pens Elite organization.  John is a native of Pittsburgh and is a certified level 4 coach with USA Hockey and has been involved in the game as a player or coach for over 30 years.  Most recently, John served as both the Director of Girls Hockey and head coach of the North Pittsburgh Wildcats U19 Girls team, guiding his teams to the finals in four of the past five years and winning 2 PAHL championships.  He also served as an assistant coach on the Steel City Selects Girls U14 team the past two season helping to guide the team to the MidAm District championship and a quarterfinals finish at USA Hockey Nationals in 2016.  

Brian Vogel had been named the head coach of the U14 team.  Brian has over 28 years experience playing hockey.  He grew up playing in the Pittsburgh area where he played at the PAHL, AA travel, and high school levels.  He also played for  the US Naval Academy’s club hockey team while he was a student there.  For the past two years, Brian has been the head coach for the North Pittsburgh Wildcats Girls U14 team.  Prior to that he was an assistant coach on the North Pittsburgh U14 team and has also served as assistant coach for the North Pittsburgh Girls U12 team.
