The 19U SCS coaching staff has created a new program allowing players to get some time off the game to be "kids" again. The Weekend MVP program allows one player to be named the "Weekend MVP" as nominated by the team. Weekend MVP's get to take one practice off to do anything other than hockey for one night!

Recent Weekend MVP's

2/25/17  Maddie Early / Veronica Heyl
Maddie did a great job of being consistently in position all weekend. The game results were not what we wanted, but Maddie did a good job playing her position and clearing the puck hard and away from the wall. Maddie also did a great job executing the game plan. Veronica came in during game 2 in a tough situation. The Selects were down and being out shot badly. "Veno" came in and shut down some quality chances only allowing 1 goal in the third. She showed strong battle level and provided a lift to the team. Great job Ladies!

2/18/17 Ella Troy
Ella was an absolute Warrior all weekend playing with a broken foot and playing amazing hockey all weekend. The U19's captured the championship of the Steel City home tournament this weekend and Ella's effort was key to the team's success. Most notably in the Championship game Ella stepped up in the neutral zone, picking off passes to eliminate the attack of the Ann Arbor Cougars. Great job Ella! #gritty

2/11/17 Katie Hill
We traveled to Philly for a two game set with the Tier 1 Jr. Flyers. Katie kept us in both games facing 50+ shots in game one and only allowing one goal. In game two, we put up a good fight, but couldn't match up; Katie kept the game respectable facing 40+ shots. Great job Katie Hill! Thank you for playing all the way to the end and giving everything you had!.

1/28/17 Maddy Kessy
Maddy played outstanding hockey off the puck and on the defensive side of the puck over the entire weekend in a three game set vs the Tier 1 Ohio Blue Jackets. The team played hard all weekend. Losing a heartbreaker late in Game 1, 3-2. Battling hard in Game 2, going down 2-0 late and giving up an empty netter to fall 3-0. The squad bounced back in a major way in game 3 winning 2-1. Maddy played a big part in the victory. Maddy was able to pick up a change in our system quickly and execute it perfectly creating extra offensive chances. She was very strong on the defensive side of the puck as well. Maddy has adjusted her game to be able to fit any role needed for the team.

1/7/17 Cali Heidenreich
It was a tough Tier 1 weekend for the Selects, falling twice to the Washington Pride. The coaching staff has been working on teaching how to have consistent play shift after shift. Cali represented the team well, displaying amazing work ethic, hockey IQ and a desire to make a difference on every shift. Cali played a 200 ft game all weekend. She definitely played the game the "right way."

12/10/16 Jayda Mears
Jayda and the "Money Line" absolutely dominated the competition all weekend vs. the NOVA Ice Dogs. The Selects won game one 7-1 and capped off the weekend with a 4-0 victory in the second game. Jayda was strong on the puck all weekend and "Dangles," as she has been nicknamed, came through with a hat trick in game two, displaying some nice dangles and scoring some Sidney Crosby-like backhands!

11/26/16 Katie Hill
The Weekend MVP for this year's Thanksgiving Tournament is Goalie Katie Hill. Katie had a great weekend in net. Katie posted a record of 2-1-1 with a GAA of 2.00. Katie stepped up and played a big Semi Final game leading the team to a 3-2 vs Whitby. Katie also kept things close in the Tournament Championship, unfortunately the Select fell to the Aurora Panthers 2-0 in the final. Katie has been solid all year allowing the team to play an offensively style of hockey knowing that the first shot is likely a breakaway!

11/11/16 Bailey Loehrke
Bailey had a great weekend defensively, and also added some very timely goals. In her new position down low on the Powerplay, she was absolutely robbed in game 1, but in game 2 she found a way to put one home. Bailey also took a key shot in a shootout vs Armstrong to allow the U19's to continue the shootout and win the game.

10/8/16 Sara Gargasz
Sara was absolutely dominate all weekend. She dominated on the puck and led the team in scoring. This was a 4-0 sweep weekend for the U19's.
