SCS 16U Team Defeats Columbus in Two Impressive Shutout Wins

On Saturday October 28th the SCS 16U team hosted Mid-Am District rival Columbus Blue Jackets.  It was the first meeting between the teams this season. SCS owned a season record of 8-5-4 heading into the weekend and was ranked 17th among girls 16U Tier II teams nationally.

Game one was a 4-0 win by SCS.  Forward Robyn Caswell opened the scoring in the 2nd period with assists from Kylie Vetere and Scout Spong.  In the third period goals were scored by team captain Makenna Smith, assisted by Sarah Uhall; assistant captain Kylie Vetere (SHG), assisted by Molly Zimmerman and Bethany Edwards; and forward Brynn Chaplik, assisted by Danielle Karol. 

Game two was a 3-0 win by SCS.  Goals were scored by Makenna Smith (PPG), assisted by Robyn Caswell and Sarah Pointek; and forward Megan Swick, assisted by Danielle Karol.

Goalie Hannah Vogel earned both shutouts for the weekend.

The two wins raised the team’s record to 10-5-4 and kept them undefeated against Mid-Am District opponents this season.  They will spend the next two weeks preparing to compete in the CCM World Invitational tournament in Detroit, MI November 9-11th.
