SCS 16U Salutes Their Fans After a 2-0 Victory Against Jr. Hurricanes

16U Sweeps Carolina Jr. Canes in 3 Straight Shutouts

In their home opening weekend, the Steel City Selects 16U kept their undefeated season alive after sweeping Carolina Jr. Hurricanes AAA in 3 games.  The girls played solid team defense and kept the Jr. Canes quality scoring chances to a minimum which resulted in 3 shutouts: 2-0, 3-0, and 2-0 for the weekend series.

The wins increase the team's season record to 12-0-1.  The girls have next weekend off and will use the extra time to prepare for their next home series when the Glenview Stars visit for 3 games October 15th and 16th.

16U Still Unbeaten After Buffalo Weekend

Buffalo, NY

The Steel City Selects 16U team kept their unbeaten season alive after going 2-0-1 in Buffalo this past weekend.  The team played with a short bench all weekend but still put up 3 dominant performances against the Buffalo Regals and Wheatfield Blades.  The girls out-shot their opponents 120-32 and outscored them 11-2.  Cyd Mathers earned a 4-0 shutout in the final game on Sunday against the Regals. 

The team will spend the upcoming week preparing for their home opening weekend when they will host the Carolina Jr. Hurricanes T1 for 3 games October 1st and 2nd.

16U Sweeps Another Weekend Series in Syracuse

In their second weekend of the season, the Steel City Selects 16U swept the Tier 1 Syracuse Nationals in 3 games and increased their undefeated season streak to 7 games.  The girls outscored the Nationals 16-1 in the 3 games that took place at Cicero Twin Rinks in Cicero, NY.  

Goalies "Taco" Brunetto and Cyd Mathers both recorded shutouts.  Center Makenna Huggins recorded her first hat-trick of the season and first-year players Athena Renton and Mylee Serkis both netted their first goals in SCS black and yellow. 

The team now focuses their attention towards a weekend series in Buffalo September 24-25th.
