Downtime at the DC hotel. Good Times!
SCS U19 girls played hard this weekend with a short bench, and ended up 2-2 on our DC trip.
MVPs for the weekend: Jackie Kagle (pictured in front in pink shirt) and Grace Johnson.
Jackie was solid the entire weekend. Something we preach on our team is being hard to play against and we will just say Jackie wasn't making any friends in DC! She never took a shift off the entire weekend and put up some points offensively as well. She is working her way to becoming an absolute monster on defense.
Grace found her scoring touch and also played some solid two-way hockey. Grace has been moved around in the lineup and found a home at center this past weekend. She filled the net early and continued to to be a threat all weekend while still being defensively responsible.
Veronica Heyl (Veno) was named the MVP for the weekend. We faced a tough Rochester Monarchs team and the Amherst Knights provided some tough competition as well. Veno made some huge, timely saves holding us in the games she started. Veno made a key glove save on a breakaway holding us in an eventual loss to Amherst. Goaltending is key, and the tandem of Katie Hill and Veno Heyl kept us in it all weekend. Congrats to Veno, a well earned reward!
