Steel City Selects is the premier National-bound AA girl’s hockey association in Western PA and is a registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. We are also the only organization in the region to focus on the woman's game and the female athlete.  With highly-competitive teams at the U14, U16 and U19 levels, Steel City Selects competes at top-level tournaments in major markets across the U.S. and Canada including Pittsburgh, Columbus, Cleveland, St. Louis, Indiana, Detroit, New York and others.

Our mission is to provide the highest level of hockey development and education for girls at the AA level. We teach these young women athletes skills that will help them succeed both on and off the ice throughout their playing careers and beyond.

Our program helps girls develop in the following areas:

  • Self-Confidence & Self-Esteem: Girls often lack self-confidence and self-esteem due to social environments and lack of developmental opportunities. Organized sports give girls the chance to succeed through personal and team achievements.

  • Teamwork: Fundamental team skills are essential in hockey as well as away from the rink. Our girls learn to work together to achieve success by supporting each other and capitalizing on their collective talents.

  • Leadership: Our girls develop leadership skills through rigorous competition and mentorship which positions them to attack any challenge on the ice, in the classroom, and in future employment.

  • Health Benefits: Proper nutrition and exercise are key to life-long fitness.  Our program teaches these values and provides the path to achieve top form.  Additionally, studies have shown that girls who participate in sports are less likely to smoke, do illicit drugs, suffer from depression, and are more likely to finish college, have strong family values and better social skills.

In order for us to achieve these objectives, we need your support.
