Steel City Selects is an all-female ice hockey organization based in Pittsburgh, PA.  We are a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to providing ice hockey opportunities for female athletes 19 and younger living in Western Pennsylvania.

Despite the success girls hockey has witnessed, girls participation still lags behind boys. To continue to improve the opportunities provided to young girls, and to keep them interested in ice hockey, it is critical for associations like ours to make it a priority to increase the number of girls and focus on developing girls currently enrolled in ice hockey programs.

 As girls progress in age (14U, 16U, 19U) they may look to transition to an all-girls team as their primary hockey team.  One of the core goals of our organization is to develop female athletes and prepare teen athletes for the opportunity to play at higher levels with the opportunity for college hockey.  We do this by offering training and playing at a high level of competition, in events that provide exposure to scouts.  We also seek to establish a foundation to develop female self-confidence, esteem, teamwork and leadership.
