The Steel City Selects 14U earned the bronze medal at USA Hockey Nationals in Denver, CO. They beat 8th ranked Naperville Sabres 4-3 in a shootout, 12th ranked Florida Alliance 3-1, and 9th ranked Rome Grizzlies 4-2. The teams losses both came in overtime losing to 2nd ranked East Coast Wizards 2-1 in a shootout and 3rd ranked Mid Fairfield CT Stars 1-0 in the Semi-Final Game. The team finished the season with a record of 41-15-1 and ranked 6th in the country.
In a dominant 3 game sweep at the MidAM District tournament, the Steel City Selects defended their title as MidAM Champions and earned their spot at Nationals. The girls won in convincing fashion by defeating the Cleveland Barons 9-0, Pittsburgh Arctic Foxes 5-1, and EYHA Dragons 15-0. They will spend the next 6 weeks preparing for USA Hockey Nationals in Denver, CO on April 28th through May 3rd.
The Steel City Selects 14U team was back in action this past weekend and headed to Ice Line Arena in Philadelphia to take on the Jr. Flyers and Mamaronek Tigers. On Saturday the girls won game one over the Jr Flyers U14s 3-0 and game two over the Jr Flyers U16s 10-0. Sunday's game results were a 3-0 win over Mamaronek and a 2-1 win over the Jr. Flyers U14s. These wins improved the team's season record to 25-5-0 and kept their current winning streak alive at 14 straight games!
